The National Hurricane Center offers their number one tip for hurricane season: get a plan! In most cases, a lot of damage can be prevented when people have a plan of how to prepare for a storm. Simple tasks such as storing canned food and bottled water in your home, removing tree branches near windows, and having wooden boards ready for doors and windows can make a huge difference in your safety. Also, try to plan an evacuation route in case you and your family need to leave the area in an emergency.
